Meanwhile on the #Ebola front, the Democratic Republic of Congo ( #DRC ) is experiencing what is now the 2nd worst #EbolaOutbreak on record, and it promises to get worse…a lot worse. This virus strain is rare, which is part of the problem. There is no vaccine yet. The outbreak is worsened by several factors, including: armed conflict in the area; geographic isolation; lack of contact tracking; and finally, the loss of USAID $$ necessary to support prevention and outbreak support. So the #TrumpRegime is at least partially responsible for this #PublicHealth disaster. #Africa

The Ebola outbreak erupting from the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to escalate wildly, with cases nearing 750, deaths reported at 177, and around 1,400 contacts now being traced, the World Health Organization reported in a press briefing Friday. The latest numbers already place the outbreak as the third largest on record, though it was only first reported a week ago, on May 15. And WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the outbreak is still “spreading rapidly.” #ebola #EbolaOutbreak #DRC #Africa #Virus #Virology #PublicHealth

Hi #Mastodon family some people have been asking why we don’t post the maize on our land hhh. So here it is, our maize field looks all green and healthy 😉.
And the funny part is 🌽😂 the maize we gave the least attention is now among the most developed around us. Harvest time is getting closer and we can’t wait to share with the community 😉
In #Africa maize are used to make posho, a common school meal. Fresh maize can also be roasted or boiled and tastes great 😉.
"In 2024, #Africa saw an alarming series of extreme climate events—prolonged droughts, devastating floods, and heatwaves—that affected millions of lives.
The number of displaced individuals jumped from 1.1 million in 2009 to 6.3 million in 2023. Floods were the leading cause of displacement, responsible for over 75 percent of forced movements, while droughts were accountable for 11 percent."
