I agree and disagree.
The UI of @HolosSocial is one of the best I have seen.
I am able to have pictures only, videos only, events only (that is not working for me) and all together. So in theory, I can switch between #Mastodon view, #Pixelfed view and #loops / #peertube view. All with one account. That's in my view really perfect. That's exactly what i miss so far. If i wanna read, i go to the All view. If I wanna see nice dog and cats posts, i go to the picture view.

Sup is meant for those who use Snapchat, Whatsapp and Messenger daily, but also brings a clean and refined experience to people who prefer other protocols.
The modular nature of Sup separates identity from protocols to connect you to your people, wherever they are, with push notifications, dark mode, and even video chat!
This should exist, but it would be difficult to grow from scratch...

Spammers on Pixelfed are a problem, and I just shipped a new mitigation to reduce the incentives.
Bios, website links and some og tags on public profiles are now hidden for guests on profiles with less than 100 followers, and include a new noindex meta tag.
I am working on more mitigations, stay tuned!

I spent 7 years working on Pixelfed almost every day, and in the past 18 months we've went from 200k users to over 1 million!
Some could argue the break after FediCon to build Loops was a mistake, but the fediverse needed a solid short video platform and I didn't want to force that on Pixelfed.
Now this summer belongs to Pixelfed.

I started building @pixelfed in April 2018, just weeks after the ActivityPub spec was published.
I delayed federation support in light of some fediverse meta that happened in the summer of 2018, and someone even made a doespixelfedfederateyet website that said "No." until Dec 2018.
People joked about Pixelfed a lot, then the vibe changed when I shipped ephemeral Stories using LitePub + Bearcaps in 2019.
8 years later, we're still here and thriving!
